VOLUNTEERING & EMPLOYMENT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEMALE ASSISTANT WHO CAN START IN APRIL OR MAY TO HELP WITH KAYAKING ADVENTURES, ORGANIC GARDENING AND TAKING CARE OF BEAUTIFUL SLED DOGS. No experience necessary, just good attitude, hard worker and mature. This live in position would include a solar powered cabin to live in, all food and a small stipend. It is a fun position, working with sled dogs, training and caring for them on our 400 acres in the beautiful and peaceful Superior National Forest, and general homestead chores. We are looking for a mature woman who can start in the spring of 2010. If you love kayaking, organic gardening, dogs and the outdoors, think kayaking sounds exciting, enjoy socializing with adventurous women and the peace and quiet of the Northwoods, this opportunity might be for you. No experience is necessary however you must be mature, conscientious, able to follow directions and have a positive attitude. Throughout the summer, we have groups of (mostly) women come every week end to learn the basics of kayaking and spend time with nature. You will learn about the field of outdoor recreation and also learn more about yourself. The position is a live in and you will have your own private cabin, solar power, wood heat, gas stove for cooking, sauna for bathing, outhouse, great organic food,... It is 5 days a week, you receive room/board/ small stipend. I will teach you the basics of dogsledding so as to help with the guests and train the dogs. You will help with the dog chores, getting ready for guests (up to 8 at a time), cooking, trail work, general homestead chores....
