Bringing Women and Nature Together in the North Woods
I started Heart in the Earth in 1998 because through organizing women’s outdoor adventures over the past 25 years, I met so many amazing, talented, and beautiful women who also loved the natural world. I thought how fun and meaningful it would be to bring women and nature together in one special event. The energy and connection of women being in the outdoors, playing and learning together is an inspiration to me.
We are not separate from nature. We are part of nature and it is part of us. When we give her the opportunity to be with us, showing her beauty, peacefulness, wisdom and life force, we are the ones who are blessed.
Women who have attended past gatherings said they gained a renewed sense of wonder, and feel committed to enjoying more time outdoors and continuing with newly learned skills. They commented that the experience was rejuvenating and has helped them to feel centered and calm.

I attended the Heart In the Earth weekend and I loved it! It was very well organized and gently led by Kathleen. The food was delicious and was adapted to individual's needs. The lodging facility, the Bunk'her, was cozy and comfortable. Everyone came away from the weekend feeling connected, refreshed, and renewed. The dogs were one of the highlights! So beautiful and so well loved.
